For many tourists and holiday makers, their annual vacation is focused on glorious sunshine and lazing by the beach, not to mention kicking back and recharging the internal batteries so to speak. And what better way to achieve this than by enjoying a break from cooking food (even when you are residing in a self catering holiday apartment or private villa), and sampling the culinary pleasures of the local cuisine. And just as one additional bonus you get to leave the cleaning up to somebody else to handle.

This really is needless to say great news for “foodie’s” , and on islands similar to Lanzarote you’ll be simply spoilt for restaurants to discover. A lot of of the best of these eateries are situated within the more expensive luxury Lanzarote hotels, which includes the Gran Melia Salinas in Costa Teguise. Having said that you will also find numerous other top quality bistros located throughout the island.

Lanzarote has an excellent variety of holiday accommodation in particular some high-class Lanzarote villas which are available over the internet either by using a villa website or perhaps directly from the owners, and after you’ve landed on the island you could start your very own “foodie” holiday as soon as you arrive.

Many first time visitors on Lanzarote can be forgiven for believing that most local palates would primarily revolve around seafood dishes, because this is an island encircled by a bountiful ocean. . However the genuine traditional favorites rule, with equally goats meat and rabbit featuring most highly on local menus. Holidaymaker’s will still be able to find a lot of fish and shellfish restaurants still, serving an excellent range of locally netted seafood including cherne, sama and dorada.

There are a number of other types of local specialties that are seriously worth trying out. For instance quite a few your meals are served with Papas Arrugadas, which are also called wrinkled potatoes, which are prepared in strongly salted water, and are simply divine when served with fish. These tend to be served with classic sauces or perhaps mojos. There are usually a pair of main varieties served in local dining establishments, the green often referred to as verde which is actually created utilizing a foundation of coriander, and also the fierier roja or red sauce featuring a lick of chilli.

Needless to say if your are planning on exploring the island then car rental is a must have during your stay. Lanzarote car hire fees are amazingly low when compared to several other holiday hot spots, ensuring you’ll have the opportunity check out the local villages to sample fresh grown or even locally caught cuisine Lanzarote style. Needless to say, if you have transportation it would be a travesty to fail to visit the Timanfaya national park and experience a meal cooked via the heat of the earth emanating from the inactive volcano.

Lanzarote is a heady mixture of culture, exceptional cuisine together with simply awe-inspiring panoramas and sightseeing attractions that will without any doubt give you a taste for even more.

Recent news flashes from the Canary Islands has focused on volcanic activity manifesting itself not far from the coast of El Hierro, creating a minor localized evacuation. Having said that on the other side of the Canaries chain, Lanzarote which happens to be every bit as volcanic, remains inactive and tranquil.

This was not the scenario merely a few centuries back however, as Lanzarote was in fact the subject of the longest continuous eruption ever recorded, despite the fact that its close neighbours continued in blissful calm. Luckily for us this era of seismic disruption has been put to good use by the ever growing tourist sector, with a particular inactive volcano even being employed in order to power a restaurants bbq.

And in addition the islands most popular attraction, the volcano park at Timanfaya, indicates just how extreme volcanic eruptions could very well be. Regardless of where tourists look they’re able to see huge craters, lava streams, walls that appear to be like melted wax and huge lava bombs that have been thrown through the air.

Additionally beyond the perimeter of Timanfaya you’ll find a panorama every bit as intriguing, where La Geria wine region makes use of more mature volcanic slopes than the craters in Timanfaya. Easily the ultimate way to discover this excellent location is usually by car, because Lanzarote car hire won’t break the bank, and you’ll be able to make the most of the quiet rural roads with their stunning scenery.

The truth is that whilst Lanzarote is the perfect sunshine holiday location, relaxing by the pool or on one of Lanzarote’s excellent beaches is not the only thing tourists want to do during their stay. Many people might wish to explore the consistently delightful but thoroughly distinctive northern part of Lanzarote too.

What typically turns out to be the situation tends to be that a few relaxing days using the comforts at any of the hotels in Lanzarote is more than enough for some visitors, who will then want a degree of diversification, normally beyond the holiday resort . And these individuals Lanzarote has many extraordinary cultural tourist attractions and places of interest to visit.

Every one of these was created by the local artist known as César Manrique, whose resourceful reputation garnered him plaudits in Spain and on Lanzarote. However inspite of the popularity of the island with British tourists as well as the short duration of Lanzarote flights, this artist astonishingly remains more or less anonymous in England.

Mercifully that paucity of knowledge is very quickly balanced out given that travelers to Lanzarote generally succumb to his design style and are usually hungry discover other samples of his work. Which might without difficulty transform the holiday into a mini cultural visit of Manrique´s artwork and also his architectural developments in preference to simply a few weeks basking on a sun bed.

Seeking somewhere to enjoy a holiday with lots of wonderful beaches to discover? Then give some serious thought to Lanzarote, the most easterly of the Canaries and the home to some of the best stretches of sand in the whole of Spain.

The journey to the island takes just four hours from the UK and Lanzarote flights can be bought for as little as €100 return all year round, via cheap flight specialists such as Monarch, easyJet and Ryanair.

Lanzarote car hire is great value too, making it possible to book a basic model from just €15 per day. All of which makes it possible to enjoy a holiday here without breaking the bank.

There are over 100 beaches to explore – the majority of them made up of golden grains as opposed to the black sands prevalent on other Canary Islands. And some of the best can be found within the confines of the main holiday resorts. Such as Puerto del Carmen where tourists can soak up the sun on Playa Grande or Playa Chica. Or head for Costa Teguise to explore no less than five great beaches such as Playa Cucharas and Playa Bastian.

But if you’re willing to explore and search for something all natural you will need to travel away from the main resorts as their beaches have all been man made with sand from the Sahara. So head north to discover authentic beaches located in the delightful seaside village of Arrieta. Arrieta has it´s own gorgeous beach at Playa La Garita, which is also home to a couple of excellent value restaurants if you fancy a bite to eat. The north of Lanzarote also boasts the sweeping bay at Famara which is widely regarded by many as the finest and most dramatic beach on the island. Lanzarote also offers some great attractions on top of these great beaches, such as the creations of the local artist Cesar Manrique and the Timanfaya National Park. And it’s easy to get around and explore as the island has an excellent road network.

Lanzarote holiday accommodation is also in plentiful supply and you will find that there are loads of hotels in Lanzarote to choose from all around the island. You’ll find the Lanzarote Guidebook holiday web site features a wide selection of accommodation and visitors can also download a copy of their comprehensive guidebook to the island for free.

As well as viewing a selection of property for sale from leading Lanzarote estate agents.

For many tourists good food and drink is the most important part of their vacation. And anyone planning to spend their holidays in Lanzarote this year is in for a real treat. As this small island in the Canaries is home to some great restaurants and markets. All of which are easy to explore thanks to the fact that Car hire in Lanzarote is much cheaper than in say the UK.

Although Lanzarote is an island in the Atlantic Ocean fish takes second place to flesh here. And the most traditional dishes feature rabbit and goat, both of which are well adapted to Lanzarote´s hot, dry climate. Restaurants on the island also rely on excellent goats cheeses as an ingredient. And these are delicious when enjoyed with a glass of the local wine. El Grifo is one of the best known bodegas on the island and has been producing fine wines since the 18th century.

Tourists will find that they don’t even have to stray too far to sample local cuisine as many hotels in Lanzarote offer traditional dishes at least once a week and other menu items such as prawns with garlic are also a regular fixture. Many locals prefer to wash these down with one of the two local lagers, Tropical or Dorada, whilst locally produced honey rum is also very popular as an after dinner digestif. For anyone staying in one of the many Lanzarote villas or apartments available for rent the basic ingredients of these dishes can all be bought in local markets should they wish to try cooking them for themselves.

There are literally thousands of restaurants on Lanzarote and the best of these can be found in the countryside. Such as gastronomic gems like Ikarus, located in the one time capital of Teguise, and Lagomar, just a ten minute drive away in Oasis de Nazaret. Lagomar used to belong to the film star Omar Sharif before it was converted into one of the finest restaurants on the island. The actor is reputed to have staked this fantastic property in a hig stakes game of bridge – and lost!

Getting to the island has never been easier as there are now flights to Lanzarote that are surprisingly affordable given the fact that it is a four hour journey time from the UK. Fares have really fallen over the last few years though and returns to this small island located off the coast of Africa are available from most airports in the UK.

Packing might not be one of your most wanted activities, but if you fancy travelling, then this is the cost you will have to bear. There is no way one could get pleasure from a trip or a vacation without packing.

Consequently, whether you want it or not you will have to get your suitcases out of your storing area or even purchase some brand new ones and begin scheduling how are going to fit in all the possessions you need to take with you.

If this is going to be purely a brief excursion, the why not select travel duffels?

Travel duffels are good for brief trips as they can hold a larger assortment of items in just a single bag. No matter if you have a leather, textile or polyester duffel, you will note it has ample of pockets.

Having lots of pockets means you can securely arrange your effects, so that they do not mix. This way you will observe it easier to categorize your cases and obtain a place for each and every item.

They are not to bulky, so that you will have extra space when packing for the weekend break. But they are reasonably large to hold the effects you will need in a two or three days vacation so they easily provide the best choice when it comes to storing your luggage for short trips.

The other advantage travel duffels have over suitcases or other types of suitcases is that they are very simple to handle. Choose a rolling duffel and you will have plenty of ways to carry it.

You can roll it after you, you can clutch it by the medium handles or you can easily put it on your shoulder if it is easier for you this manner. You can not disregard the truth that travel duffels have become more and more attractive recently.

They are obtainable in contrasting materials, colors and even shapes. With colorful appearances, classy patterns, lots of funny pockets and rounded edges, there is no way you will attract attention with your travel duffel, so prepare to create sensation even when you are travelling.

What it is extra appealing is the fact that you can adapt it to your taste and preferences, so you can say “Good Bye” to the old black or brown duffels and pick whatever color or pattern crosses your mind!

Travel Duffels are by far the right solution when it comes to choosing a rucksack that can hold your luggage for two or three days. If you do not have one in your home make sure you get one with the next opportunity!

With such an easy way to pack you will want to leave on a trip each and every day!

Take a look at our travel duffels site and find all the critical information about duffel bags. Check us out at http://www.travelduffels.com

Luggage sets have become one of the most comfortable and safe ways to transport your belongings from one place to another. They’re cute and easy to carry, so have most of the constant travel has already fallen in love with one set or another.

But those who have not bought such a traveler companion is difficult to calculate how many pieces will they choose for their luggage sets. If you’re one of those still contemplating between a 3 set pieces and 6 pieces of one, so here are some tips to go for the best.

The first thing you will have to do before starting your quest for the perfect set is to evaluate how much luggage will you have to carry with you in a normal trip. You can easily do that by thinking of the number of people for whom you will need pack (the number of family members normally going on a trip at once) and by rapidly reviewing the amount of things each one of the members will take with them.

This may seem like an impossible thing, but if you do this at home with all the clothes and personal belongings in your face, it may be considerably easier. The larger your family is, the more pieces you need! That is for sure!

Then, you will have to think at the type of items you usually take on a trip. If you need more clothes, then you will need a set containing more clothes bags. If on the other hand, you prefer having more technology with you (cameras, laptops, radio), then you will probably want a set of luggage which can offer you a tote bag and a laptop bag.

These are usually found in larger sets of 5 or 6 pieces, so this may mean you have to spend more than the average price of the luggage set, but your safety and comfort should always come first.

Last but not least, if you’re a big family, you should look for extra luggage sets. During a 7 piece set is not a realistic option when you also have to take care of children and remain in contact with the other members of the family.

An expendable set of bags will give you the ability to store more stuff in a bag, thus making them more practical than large luggage set. However, make sure you do not overfill your stuff there!

Choosing between a 2 or 3 pieces set and a 5 or 6 pieces set should not be a hard task if you know how to evaluate the luggage you need to pack each time you travel, so take your time and know your family’s needs before actually starting looking for luggage sets. This will save you time and will help you find what you need easier than you have expected!

Check out our hardside luggage sets site and learn all the critical details about hardside luggage sets.

You may have heard of the Canary Islands before as this historic group of islands has helped forge the exploration of the new world and beyond for centuries before modern travel was even conceived. Also the islands feature in many legends and are even thought to be the lost home of Atlantis. But if you have not been on holiday to any of the Canary Islands, then you are in for a pleasant surprise.

All of the islands have something to offer but if you prefer a more water sport based vacation then Tenerife offers some outstanding Scuba diving locations where even novices are welcomed, and where you’ll experience very memorable dive trips and get the chance to up close and personal with the marine wildlife.

Next on our island tour is Gran Canaria or El Rondel as it was originally called. The Geography of the island is quite unique as it has a central plateau or hub and leading from this almost like the spokes of a wheel are a number of steep valleys leading toward the coast. This of course makes it ideal climbing territiory and the island has seen an explosion of climbing activity in recent years.

But whilst both Tenerife and Gran Canaria each have there own charms those in the know head for the island of Lanzarote which sees visitors returning year after year as if lured back by its magical charms.

Lanzarote has some well established and very pleasantly design resorts some of which started out as quaint fishing villages, which is great if you love seafood. Accommodation choice on the island is excellent as well, Lanzarote villas however are excellent value for many especially in the off peak season.

Costa Teguise has always been an attractive holiday hot spot and boasts wide avenues which give it a spacious open plan feel. The resort is also home to some great beaches as well not surprisingly, such as the main stretch of sand at Playa Cuchara. Ideal for the Sun sea and sand holiday.

Whichever of the resorts you choose to take your next vacation in you’ll find something to entertain the whole family, but make sure you get out and about to discover the true Canarian flavour of Lanzarote.

If you want to find out more about the island and Lanzarote villas booking advice visit Lanzarote1.com one of Lanzarote’s oldest established holiday websites.

With the evenings drawing in including a clear fall in temperatures many of us are starting to plan there upcoming holiday, but merely because the sun is likely to be disappearing in mainland Europe there are plenty of destinations that enjoy year round sun such as the sun kissed island of Lanzarote.

Whilst the main attraction of a holiday here will likely be the weather, don’t neglect to investigate the other aspects of the island too. Lanzarote delivers an explosion of colour when carnival season hits the island as well as many sporting events that will leave you just breathless from just watching.. Also on top of the many year round events , in the event that you tire from just lazing on the beach, there are a huge number of other attraction to enjoy come rain, wind or shine. Lanzarote Tourist Attractions

If your planning next years annual vacation though its worth considering that June is considered by the locals to be one of the most important months in both the Lanzarotean and Catholic calendars and one of the islands most famous festivals kicks off, which is the festival of Corpus Christi.. As you stroll round the streets you can witness temporary work of art depicting scenes from the bible. What makes these works of art and displays even more unique is the fact they are made using coloured salt.

On the accommodation front, the end of the summer and the winter period sees a lot more availability when it comes to Lanzarote villas, so luxury accommodation may be more affordable. Apartments tend to offer the cheapest accommodation choice but sometimes you could be lucky and get a villa at the same price, and you’ll also find that many have their own pool, although you may want to check to see if this is heated if your coming in the cooler season.

Having made your decision about accommodation cost the next obvious step is to choose a resort of course? If you visited the island before you may have already explored the islands resorts and have a good idea, but if not you need to narrow down the choices. Do you want to taste the true island lifestyle or stick to the main resorts only?. If you fancy a break from the norm you could try a rural villa tucked away in the local countryside or perhaps even something far more bizarre or unique for example a cave.

If Playa Blanca is your choice then you’ll find that this represents excellent value for money thanks to its excellent mix of bars , restaurants and outstanding accommodation. For guests who are able to tear themselves way from the pool the resort is home to some spectacular stretches of sand. Such as Playa Dorada, Playa Flamingo and the small town beach of Playa Blanca – from which this destination takes its name. Lanzarote tourist Information

So if you are looking for a relaxing holiday hotel experience that will not break the bank, make sure that the island of Lanzarote is high on your short-list of possible destinations.

If you’ve started planning you next years holiday then you simply must check out Lanzarote in the Canaries. Package holidaymakers have been visiting the small Canary Island of Lanzarote ever since the 1970´s when the island first started to appear in the brochures of tour operators in the UK and across Europe, its popularity has since been sealed by its breathtaking beaches and equally wonderful weather.

But this popular destination offers more than sea, sun and sand, careful development has created a largely unspoilt holiday island.

In a time warp of it own you’ll still find local farmers still using donkeys to plough their fields from time to time, whilst many others produce wines in their own small bodegas using extremely unique techniques, with the vines being grown in circular beds hollowed out from the black volcanic picon and surrounded by small stone walls to protect them from the hot dry wind. It’s often said that Lanzarote holidays tend to be remembered for a long time.

If you are considering a base for exploring what the island has to offer, a villa or apartment is the obvious choice for most people as each day can be organised exactly as you wish with none of the drawbacks of hotel dining rooms to negotiate or meal times to consider. Combined with a hire car it is the best way to discover somewhere new and ensure that your holiday in Lanzarote is a memorable experience. You can find an excellent selection of Lanzarote apartments on Lanzarote’s most popular website.

Lanzarote has a number of main resorts and all offer something different so all we can do is to give you some guidance. The resort of Playa Blanca was developed long after its resort rivals to the north and until as recently as the 1980´s was still just a small fishing port and ferry harbour from where boats crossed the Bocaina Straits to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura.

However its twin natural advantages of great weather and excellent beaches made it an obvious spot for tourist development and it has gone from strength to strength ever since.Other popular resorts include Costa Teguise which is the most northerly resort on the island and is only a pleasant 15 taxi or coach ride from the main airport.

To make the most of your time on the island then there is no substitute to hiring a car as this gives you a good degree of freedom and flexibility to see everything the island has to offer which could be an excursion, a visit yet another beach or even an evening drive to a romantic restaurant off the more beaten track. Whilst many people come principally for the sun, a large majority of visitors to the island take advantage of the many other activities to keep them amused as well.

Lanzarote charm is simply appealing to all age groups so a holiday to this most popular of canary islands is bound to be a success.

The little island of Lanzarote offers big value for money for anyone seeking a self catering holiday on a budget. As it is home to a very large selection of privately owned accommodation – normally available at prices that just cannot be matched in other parts of Spain. As here owners enjoy a year round rental season – as well as a reliable flow of tourist guests.

Along with the other six Canary Islands Lanzarote enjoys a fantastic semi-tropical climate, delivering clement weather whatever the time of year. Thanks to its geographical situation close to the Tropic of Cancer and just off the coast of Africa. This is married with very low levels of rainfall, together creating a dry and arid terrain – desert like in places – which is largely devoid of trees and vegetation.

This leaves much of Lanzarote denuded of flora, with this strange scenery made to appear even more surreal by the impact of gigantic eruptions in the 1730´s which left about 200km square of the islands interior looking like a set from a science fiction movie. The area has had its fair share of film stardom

But the island also has plenty of more conventional beauty away from the volcanic region, where it is much like many other island destinations. There are around 100 beaches adorning the coastline and visitors can choose from three modern and well appointed holiday resorts. Which is also the location most of the top choices of Luxury Lanzarote villas and other prime holiday accommodation for example self catering apartments.

Puerto del Carmen is the islands main resort – located close to the only airport at Arrecife and blessed with an abundance of golden sand beaches. Accounting for its enormous popularity with tourists from across Europe over the last forty years. As well as excellent nightlife and a large selection of bars and restaurants.

As a result villas are in demand as a result – with prices starting at about the €500 mark for properties with private pools.

After Puerto del Carmen Playa Blanca is the islands second most popular resort. Having expanded rapidly since it was first developed in the early 1990´s. And today it is proving especially popular with tourists sleeking good value self catering accommodation thanks to the fact that apartments and villas here offer excellent value for money.

Lanzarote is a great sunshine destination all year round. But its best to time your holiday here carefully, as some months such as February and March can be more unreliable than others.

Must see attractions on the island include for example Jameos Del Agua -Lanzarote has many star attractions. But this collapsed, 6km long lava tube, located in the North of the island close to Punta Mujeres often tops the bill for most tourists – attracting close on 700,000 visitors in 2006.
