With a passport in your pocket, you are able to see the world. Passports are the tickets that can introduce us to all the different places and peoples of our planet. Passports used to be a pain to get, but you can now get them on the internet, granting you access to services like passports renewals right from your computer.

Passport renewal is for someone who has a passport that has expired. In order to understand why you might need a passport replacement, it’s important to know what sort of circumstances warrant the need to renew. Doing the process online means you don’t have to wait in a long line at the post office, fill out a confusing form, and then wait for months in the dark before your passport arrives. The entire process takes place online.

It’s important that you find a secure passport processing site. Because passports require some of your most personally sensitive information, they are prime targets for fraud. This is another danger of relying on the standard passport process. Passports come to your mailbox, and mailboxes are very easy to steal from. If you have no idea when your passport will reach your mail box, and someone took it, it could be months before you know someone has been using your personally sensitive information.

When looking for a secure place to renew your passport, check for a couple qualifications. The first test is a basic aesthetics test. Does the site look legitimate? Then make sure there is someway you can contact the site, such a phone number or an address. The next and most important of these steps is checking for the site’s qualifications for security. These look like little badges. Some examples are the “Verified by Visa” stamp, the “McAffee Secure” stamp, or the “Authorize.Net Verified Merchant” stamp. Of course there are many more, just be sure that the site has plenty to qualify its security.

After finding a good site, you then pick what sort of passport service you need. You should send it in a padded envelope to the address that is listed on your paperwork. For your own protection you might consider sending it in such a way that the post office can trace it if it gets lost. Ensure that you have included all required documentation along with any fees that are required.

If you are in a hurry to receive your new passport, you can pay an extra $60 for the expedited fee. You need to write EXPEDITED on the outside of the envelope. Mark it clearly so that when it arrives at its destination it will be handled properly. Another option you have is to visit a local agency that handles passports. You can find a local office by going to the website for the Bureau of Consular Affairs. This is the best option if you will need to have your passport in less than 2 weeks.

Although it can take up to 2 months receive your new pass port, submitting a New Passport Name Change is an easy process. It seems that USA Passports are in the news a lot lately and recently there was an incident report involving the Iroquois lacrosse team.  They were going to England to compete in the World Championships.  They were not permitted to leave because they possessed Iroquois passports.

There were other teams from Canada and the United States and they all had their officially issued documents but the Iroquois Native American team possessed passports that, as in the past, were issued by the Iroquois Nation.  Since there were denied entrance, they could not compete and it took a special order from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to get them back into the United States since passports are also vital for reentry into your home country.  The UK, however, did not abide by Ms. Clinton’s edict.

There are several opinions surrounding this incident and this situation.  There has never been a time in history when the threat of terrorism has been greater.  Additional restrictions are being implements to improve national security in all nations around the world.  The Iroquois passports do not contain the standard anti-fraud devices that are present in other regularly issued passports which make it easier for them to land in the hands of a criminal or terrorist and be used successfully if restrictions were not implemented on them.

The other side of the argument feels that the Iroquois have been issuing their own passports and traveling on them without any sort of problem in the past. But in the face of recent terrorist attacks and scares, the measures have been tightened, resulting in the current conundrum. The Iroquois Nation is backed by people who claim that it’s silly to regard some of the top athletes in the world as potential National Security threats. 

The game of lacrosse was created by the Iroquois Indians long ago so they take a lot of pride in the sport.  With the cancellation of their own passports, they were forced to get a passport quick and this was very demeaning to them.  A view held by coach echoes the sentiments that this type of treatment goes against the free expression of the native American Indian heritage and can cost the team the opportunity to play in the championship game of the sport that was their idea in the first place.

There are certainly two sides to every story and regulations concerning American passports have been put there for a reason.  To add insult to injury, about 4,500 sex offenders were issued American passports in 2008.  It is important to remember, however, that the Iroquois natives were not denied an American passport.  They were required to get a U S passport quick and not permitted to use the one issued by the Iroquois Nation.  It is easy to see points on both sides of this issue but, above all, national security must be the top consideration.

There are many reasons that you might have decided that it is now time to apply for a new USA passport. When you want to apply for a passport, you are going to need to follow seven steps in order to do so, in addition to knowing some basic information about the process and the things that you will need to apply. It is important that you go and apply in person which is somewhat different than before if you have not ever had a prior passport or if you are a minor or were a minor when you got your previous passport.

The first thing that you must do is fill out the official application for a US passport. You must remember to not sign the application until you are told to as it could void your application and require that you have to fill out another one. Plus you should always include your social security number as if you do not, you could be denied at worse and at best it will be delayed for some time.

There are several things that you have to prove to be awarded a US passport and one of these is to make sure that you can verify your citizenship status. You can do this with many things including an undamaged old passport, a birth certificate from the US, a certificate of birth from abroad, citizenship certificate, or naturalization certificate. There are other things that you can do if you do not have this information but that would require more effort from you and it would make it much harder to get your passport.

Valid identification is also necessary in order for you to prove you are who you say that you are. Identification can come in the form of a former US passport, a drivers’ license, a government identification car, naturalization certificate, or a military identification card. When you have done something to change yourself like having a sex change operation, you might be asked for more information and some additional documentation.

When it comes to preparing for your passport application, you should have some of the different identification materials photocopied. The photocopy of your identification must be on a piece of eight and one half by eleven inch white paper with nothing else. Plus the image must not be reduced although it can actually be increased in size.

Paying for your passport is one of the steps that you will also have to do. This is going to be subjective as there are some circumstances in which you will pay less money for the passport but the regular fees are $165 for both the passport book and passport card, $55 for the passport card, and $135 for the passport book. Remember, minors will have reduced fees and there will be reduced fees if this is a card or book replacement or renewal.

The only other thing that you must do to get a new USA passport is have the photographs ready. These will need to be two identical photographs and head shots with regular casual clothing on. No matter what the most important thing is that your face can be clearly seen and you have two identical photographs. Also, keep in mind that next day passport services might be necessary if your travel plans are imminent.

London is seriously unlike any other city I had ever been to before. Some of my fondest memories came from my week trip to London, and the trouble of having to add extra US passport pages, getting special electrical plugs and exchanging currency seemed so small once I arrived. If you love art, London is the place for you. Walking through London is like walking through a real life museum. The monuments, the huge buildings, and the atmosphere create such an immersing environment. Even the street art is beautiful. I spent a whole day walking around the Victoria and Albert Museum, or just the V and A Museum. Huge rooms packed with artifacts from every civilization were everywhere, and that was only one wing of the museum. Standing beside a huge, ancient artifact left me feeling so small and insignificant in the scheme of things, and it was such a cool learning experience. Huge halls filled with everything from fashion exhibits to fine art wove through the Museum, and I left feeling like I had walked though ten different museums.

I then got to explore the Tate Modern Museum, which was a pretty sharp contrast to the Victoria and Albert Museum. I generally wasn’t very impressed by my earlier experiences with modern art, but the Tate changed that. Just walking into the huge building was a pretty neat experience. I spent hours and hours both looking at and interacting with the art, some of which held very powerful messages. I left feeling pretty empowered.

The peak experience of my trip was getting to experience Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. As an English major, I hold an engrossing love for William Shakespeare and his plays, and getting to see them performed at their home was a truly humbling experience. I decided that the “groundling” experience was the way to go, being a little short on money. I had hit the gift shop, and had let loose a little too much. How could I resist the “Montague & Capulet” tote bag? I couldn’t. The play was incredible, and although my feet ached a little, it was easily disregarded when getting to stand at the edge of the stage. The atmosphere was so unique, and there was a vast difference from the theatre experiences I had previously been acquainted with.

If there is somewhere you’ve always wanted to go, whether it’s London, Paris, or Tokyo, just go. Something is calling you there, and probably for good reason. So get yourself a new passport or add USA passport pages, pack your bags, and be ready for the trip of a lifetime.
